Apples (Pyrus Malus, from the genus Malus) have a distinctive scent that can be used in perfumery to create a range of fragrances. Apples are believed to be native to the region of Central Asia, specifically in the area encompassing modern-day Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and the southern parts of Russia. The wild ancestor of the cultivated apple, known as Malus sieversii, is still found in these regions. Over thousands of years, apples were domesticated and selectively bred, leading to the development of the numerous apple varieties we have today. Our apple is an isolate, which is a specific aromatic compound or ingredient that has been extracted or isolated from a natural source, which in this case is apples.
