Pepper, Pink
Pepper, Pink

Schinus molle, commonly known as Pink Pepper, Peruvian pepper tree or California pepper tree, is native to South America. It is native to regions of the Andes in Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina. Ours is sourced from Peru.

Schinus molle is known for its attractive appearance, with feathery leaves and clusters of small red berries that resemble peppercorns. The berries, leaves, and bark of the tree have been used in traditional medicine and culinary applications in its native range.

Pink peppercorns from Schinus molle are not related to true peppercorns (Piper nigrum), which produce black, white, and green peppercorns commonly used as culinary spices. Schinus molle is a member of the Anacardiaceae family, while true peppercorns belong to the Piperaceae family.

The term "pink pepper" is used to describe the berries of Schinus molle because of their appearance and mildly spicy, fruity flavor. These pink peppercorns are not as pungent as true peppercorns but provide a unique and aromatic addition to various dishes and spice blends
